What I'm Reading This Week #6
At this point in the semester, when everyone is pretty exhausted, it was great to see a couple of articles pop up about managing your time as a faculty member:
- Trisalyn Nelson and Jessica Early. 4 Ways to Have More Fun as a Faculty Member. The Chronicle of Higher Education. October 29, 2019.
- Tamara Yakaboski, Making Space Under the Weight of Growing Expectations. Inside Higher Ed. November 13, 2019.
I was also interested to see that Dr. Ibram X. Kendi has another book out. I started reading "Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America," but then the semester took over. Maybe I'll get back to that one over winter break:
- Jamal Watson. Book Review: How to Be an Antiracist. Diverse Issues in Higher Education. November 7, 2019.
Lastly, Steven Mintz (Hunter College) published a couple of interesting articles about supporting student success:
- Steven Mintz. Focusing on the First Semester. Inside Higher Ed. November 5, 2019.
- Steven Mintz. The 8 Steps Institutions Need to Take to Improve Student Success. Inside Higher Ed. November 15, 2019.
